TEXAS BOARD of LAW EXAMINERS

TEXAS BOARD of LAW EXAMINERS

Fingerprinting Information

You must complete the fingerprinting process if you are:

  1. A Texas law student submitting a Declaration of Intention to Study Law.
  2. A new applicant who was not required to submit a Declaration of Intention to Study Law. (Depending on the previous fingerprinting date, re-applicants may not need to be re-fingerprinted. If re-fingerprinting is required for your re-application, your Licensure Analyst will notify you.)

You may not complete the fingerprinting process until after you have submitted a Declaration or application.

In accordance with applicable statutes, fingerprints provided with a Declaration or application will be used to check criminal history records with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The Board of Law Examiners shall provide applicants the opportunity to complete, or challenge the accuracy of, the fingerprint results. Procedures for changing, correcting, or updating an FBI identification record are set forth in Title 28, C.F.R., Sec. 16.34.

Once you submit your Declaration or application, a System Message with our service code will appear on your ATLAS user home page. You must be fingerprinted with our service code within 30 days of the date you submit your Declaration or application, even if you have been previously fingerprinted for another purpose.

If you reside in Texas, you must be electronically fingerprinted.

  1. Schedule an appointment to be electronically fingerprinted by MorphoTrust USA at one of their IdentoGO enrollment centers.
    1. The quickest and most convenient way to schedule a fingerprinting appointment is to have the service code ready and make your appointment online: https://uenroll.identogo.com
    2. If you prefer to schedule by phone, have the service code ready and call 1-888-467-2080.
  2. Arrive at your scheduled appointment with your photo identification and fee.

    2. Please note that personal checks and cash are not accepted.
  3. Your fingerprints will be electronically processed.
    1. The IdentoGO enrollment agent will give you a receipt confirming that you were fingerprinted.
    2. You may check the status of your submission at https://uenroll.identogo.com; enter the service code and click "Check Status."

If you reside outside of Texas, you may be eligible for electronic fingerprinting.

To find active IdentoGO locations in other states, please visit this link: https://www.identogo.com/locations. You can be fingerprinted at any of these locations and your fingerprints will be electronically processed.

If you are not located near an active IdentoGO location, you must complete a paper FBI fingerprint card.
