Fingerprint Information

You must complete the fingerprinting process if you are:

  1. A Texas law student who is submitting a Declaration of Intention to Study Law.
  2. A new applicant who was not required to submit a Declaration of Intention to Study Law. (Re-applicants do not have to get fingerprinted again.)
  3. An individual whom we have asked to submit a Supplemental Investigation form.

Fingerprints provided with a declaration, application, or supplemental investigation form will be used to check criminal history records with the Texas Department of Public Safety and the Federal Bureau of Investigation, in accordance with applicable statutes. The Board of Law Examiners shall provide applicants the opportunity to complete, or challenge the accuracy of, the fingerprint results. Procedures for changing, correcting, or updating an FBI identification record are set forth in Title 28, C.F.R., Sec. 16.34.
